About this site
RedBall Media is an indie tech/media publication rooted in old-school values: honesty, curiosity, and a deep respect for the working class. It’s run by me, Bryan, a former CNET veteran with over 26 years of software engineering experience and 12 years inside tech media at CNET. I’ve seen the good, the bad, and the marketing-driven nonsense that passes for journalism today.
We're all frustrated
This site was born out of frustration. I watched legacy outlets turn into SEO farms. I saw genuine reporting give way to affiliate links, AI slop (ahem Red Ventures ahem), sponsored posts and corporate interference. I was tired of what I was seeing. Just like everyone else.
Let's do something
So, I started RedBall Media: not to chase ad revenue or break news faster than anyone else, but to write what matters. To bring back the golden age of the late 90s and early 2000s: essays, analysis, and real opinions for readers who actually give a damn. No trackers. No selling out to ad tech. No venture capital strings. Just straight talk without the BS.
Welcome to RedBall Media
If you ever felt like tech used to be about building cool stuff and making the world a little better, not optimizing click-through rates or pushing AI slop, you’re in the right place.
Welcome aboard.
